    Remington ACR

Ever since SHOTshow, i have been drooling over Remington's ACR. I shot their SBR and Supressed 14.5" version last Monday during Remington's pre-shotshow open range day.

I checked the price and they are about $2,000. I know the CA veesion will not be able to fold the stock, be semi auto, and have a bullet button.

To those CALgunners that OWNS an ACR, is it worth it?
I paid about the same for my POF 416 but it is an AR with infinite aftermarket parts.
I didn't see a single web site selling replacement or aftermarket rails and parts for the ACR.

Am i just sufferering from temporary gun obsession, or is the ACR really all that is cracked up to be?

The Bushmaster ACR is available to the civilian market while the Remingnton ACR is only available to LEO's and the Military.

From the vids at shot show the new Remington ACR was slightly redesigned, it's now nearly 2 pounds lighter. By ditching the folding stock, thinner handguards, no quick change barrel now needs a spanner tool, and the charging handle lever folds. This rifle you can't buy.

Now the Bushmaster ACR you can buy all day long only news from them is they are finally offering other barrels in 5.56, 300 black out, and 6.8 SPC.

But other than caliber we can't enjoy the shorter barrels in CA.

There is hesitation in the market over the acr - Magpuls price quote didn't meet the reality of there production partner Bushmasters bottom line for development, advertising and support.

Coupled with the fact the pricing question has started a very negative campaign to find any faults in it such as barrel twist which have been dis proven in 3rd party testing such as gunblast.com ect.

And now you have a military version that is clearly different is just another stone to throw.

The end result is the ACR is a great rifle for what it is covered by the cloud of opinion not fact.

I have spoken to numerous reps who seem out of the loop at times because the company's move and product production plans seem hidden.

None of these paint a great picture for the future, however the ACR is going to survive, a number of SBR models were released in both Remington and Bushmaster flavors, caliber conversions specifically the 6.8 are on there way and some of what is on the new Remington like the barrel nut for people that don't want to swap out there barrels all the time will be made available. Also they now have fluted barrel models.

I have seen some very cool products that have yet to hit market but there are many people who are working with them so any parts that you feel are needed like hand guards are sure to come.

Personally I'd like to get one in ATACS myself
