Marlin .357 vs. 6.8 spc for hunting purposes.

I have both thinking about selling one of them. I bought the marlin because I like lever guns, and wanted something I can hunt with and not look to tactical when DFG stops by to say hi. Looking for the pros and cons. Although DFG seems like they are slowly accepting hunters with AR style hunting weapons. If I decided to sell the marlin I will want to get a .22 lever of some kind.

The marlins in a 357 lever will sell faster but also be harder to find again. The 357 is a good 100 yard gun while the 6.8 is 300. What do you hunt? I would keep the 357.

keep the 6.8... .357 is limiting as a hunting gun. short range, small bodies.

I hunt for pigs and yotes mostly. The 357 seems to be quieter than the 6.8 and the 6.8 AR platform might get unwanted attention. The 6.8 is more accurate and the weight is about the same,that was the reason I bought the 357 because of the weight.

If it were me, I'd probably keep the 6.8 if for no other reason than it seems like it would be more versatile in terms of game it could be used for. If the Marlin was a .44 Mag+ it might change my decision.

I would keep the Marlin. The 6.8 may turn out to be one of those "trendy" cartridges that will cease to exist in a decade or so. Might be difficult to find ammo for the gun.

This would be a moot point if you reload or plan to reload.
