Deputies seize 137 firearms in Castro Valley

Didn't see this posted. Man, if this guy wasn't crazy before he went to the mental hospital, he sure will be when he gets home.

You're right, he probably will flip out when he gets home and sees his collection gone.

Many of the firearms did not have serial numbers or manufacturer information on them, Nelson said. "Some of these weapons we are not familiar with," he added.

hmm, the hospital cant say why he is under psychiatric hold with them, no mention of a judge signing anything, yet all his guns are gone. hope i dont end up with a target on my back and end up under "psychiatric hold" too.

      where is the puke smiley,

      oh wait, there it is.

seems to be the favorite for LEA to cite TRO or psychiatric evaluation to seize lawfully owned guns. And then drag their arses to release them.

Something for the NRA lawyers to get their teeth on & sink them DEEEEP!
Those responsible for these actions need to be held accountable & dragged thru the mud for all to see.

I hope Bill or gene can chime in on this.

Sounds like a W&I 5150 hold for evaluation.
5150. When any person, as a result of mental disorder, is a danger
to others, or to himself or herself, or gravely disabled, a peace
officer, member of the attending staff, as defined by regulation, of
an evaluation facility designated by the county, designated members
of a mobile crisis team provided by Section 5651.7, or other
professional person designated by the county may, upon probable
cause, take, or cause to be taken, the person into custody and place
him or her in a facility designated by the county and approved by the
State Department of Mental Health as a facility for 72-hour
          treatment and evaluation.
Such facility shall require an application in writing stating the
circumstances under which the person's condition was called to the
attention of the officer, member of the attending staff, or
professional person, and stating that the officer, member of the
attending staff, or professional person has probable cause to believe
that the person is, as a result of mental disorder, a danger to
others, or to himself or herself, or gravely disabled. If the
probable cause is based on the statement of a person other than the
officer, member of the attending staff, or professional person, such
person shall be liable in a civil action for intentionally giving a
statement which he or she knows to be false.

It's a pity the story's author did not include "lack of a serial number is unlikely to indicate illegality, since US requirements for them began in 1968 and foreign-made weapons and militaria frequently lack serial numbers."

Yet another reason to bury a few "just in case"

For every 10 guns in the safe you should have a minimum of one in the ground.

Once their owner is released from psychiatric hold, he can appeal to a hearing officer to get the firearms back, Nelson said.
So the hearing officer decides if he gets his guns back?

They better not damage his guns. If they were all long guns, and bought before registration, I think my wife would take claim so the law can keep their hands off.

Nothing Illegal about burying legally owned firearms.

You can do whatever you want with your private property.

Also go re-read that report, she said I was going to hide a gun in a catholic church.

I did finally figure out who it was exactly... old hag looks like a cross between Snuffleupuggus and the haggard muppets from Dark crystal.

I sure hopes that he is mentally fit to get his firearms returned to him in the near future.

I'm waiting for the Texas guy to die. He owns over 8000 lugers. The market is going to crash when he dies.
