    Mannlicher-Carcano

Last night I was watching the "Manchurian Candidate" and saw something interesting. The "Manchurian Candidate" came out in 1962; John F. Kennedy was killed in 1963.

In the movie Lawrence Harvey used a Mannlicher-Carcano rifle; in real life Oswald did too.

Art imitates life - or is it the other way around?

Or it may be the case of what's cheap and available, and thus - common. Today it would probably be a Remington 700 or an AR-15, back then it was a Carcano, as they were some of the cheapest deer rifles.
