Hello All,
I have been lurking for quite some time, and i must say I am very impressed by the knowledgebase of information here and the initiatives that have been undertaken. (Most notably the CCW effor for San Diego)
I have a question and was seeking some advice:
I go hiking in the local foothills where there have been semi-regular Mountain Lion sightings. (Not to mention illegals) I definitley want to carry while I am on these hikes but since there is no CCW in San Diego I was wondering about Open Carry or LUCC. Here are the particulars:
My first thought was to just conceal carry since the chance of being caught is low, but an arrest/conviction would jeopardize my career. I hike with a dog, so assuming that I could have one in the chamber within 10 seconds, LUCC seems a viable option, but the legality of this seems vague. (Conservativley speaking)
Edit to Add - Local Sheriff deputy says carrying in any form is illegal however, getting eaten by a mountain lion is completley legal.
Could anyone provide any thoughts and/or suggestions?
Thanks

- I almost always hike at night
- There is very rarely anyone around
- The trail traverses pavement in two places where LE could exist
