    Best spotting scope under $400?

I am currently using a $50.00 big 5 special that has been dropped.

I do my shooting prone in the desert and would like an angled eye piece. I really would like to be able to see precision .223 hits on a 100 and 200 yard line paper targets. past that im shooting steel/reactive and even the cheap one is fine for that.

was planning on checking out these:
    -leupold GR sequoia ($320)
-bushnell 45* legend ultra hd ($420)
    -burris xts-2575 25-75x70mm ($240)

anything else I should be looking at? I know what $1000 glass is like and I just dont need that kinda performance (ive got it on the rifle). somewhere between the $50 barska and a $1400 mk 4 and ill be happy.

Konus used by some high power shooters. I'll buy one when I start long range shooting.

I have a Leupold green ring if you wanna look through that before you buy it to see how you like it. I doubt youwill be happy with a cheap one. I had a cheap spotting scope and that thing made me cross eyed when i looked through it

Konuspot 80 is a great scope for the price.

I have used the 80mm Konus and it was a great scope. As soon as new-spotting scope moves to the top of my to-get list, that will be the one.

I highly recommend the Kronos 100mm. I can clearly see holes from a 223 in the target (all in the bullseye by the way) at the 250 yard mark. NOt sure if the 80mm Kronos has that ability. Yes? No?

Its around $300. But, be aware, it is a monster in size and weight.

How often is there this much consensus on a gear related subject?

Someone has to chime in and say something along the lines that Konus uses inferior glass, is assembled by monkeys, and the wheels will come off the first time you mishandle it, and you should spend a little more than you want and get X brand.

This has to be some kind of CG record already.

They're assembled by lemurs, not monkeys

im going to shotshow tommorrow i am going to check them out head to head with stuff in the 200-500 range and let yall know how it does. easily can get 100 yard ranging in there. pretty confident this is what im looking for, and the only downsides I can see with the 100mm version has 33% less FOV (150ft vrs 100ft) and the extra weight.

I was in a hurry for a scope for an X12 hunt last year and picked this up at BassPro. I have been real pleased with the performance even in low light.

I've got the Konus from Jim Owens along with the stand he sells. It's pretty amazing for the cost.
