Gaston Glock wasnt a gunsmith, didnt carry the industry prejudices. The Glock 17 was so named because it was his 17th invention. Interesting read.

Some of the best designers are the ones who "started from scratch" with their ideas. Dr. Werner Gruner designed the world's best GPMG the MG-42 & he didn't know anything about guns. He knew all about stamping out sheet metal products.

Glock is a super cool company. Many years ago I mailed them a letter asking about their new lock system they were going to use in the empty grip area. They replied with good info & threw in a bunch of stuff like stickers, a patch & even a G17 key chain.

Old news to me - but still interesting. Sometimes the best products come from people who aren't involved with it and/or are new with it. Lots to be said about fresh perspectives.

I took the Glock Armorer course last week and the instructor mentioned that something new should be coming out next year. We tried to get him to tell us but he wouldn't. Someone mentioned a tactical rifle and he wouldn't elaborate. I guess we'll just have to wait.
