    Bringing 3 rifles into CA

In a few month I am planning to retire from my job here in AZ. My wife has informed me (in no uncertain terms) that the first thing we will do is go to CA for an extended visit to see our children and grand children. I will be pulling up roots here and plan to stay in our travel travel there for about 3 to 6 months. I do not plan on staying past the 6 months and will be moving on to either OR or NV. I will be bringing with me 3 rifles that I have left after having sold all my other weapons that are questionable in CA. They are:

    1) PSL by CAI, BB installed, original configuration.
    2) Hi-Point 995, ATI stock, BB installed.
    3) AK "Draco" Pistol, CAI, BB installed, muzzle break weilded on.

Now I am hoping I have covered all the bases in making these legal in CA but I am still having some heartburn over the AK pistol. Do I have to have a Bobsled magazine for this gun or can I just use 10rd magazines in it? If I have to butcher this gun anymore I may just sell it and pick up a Keltec SU-16CA instead.

I plan to disassemble my 30 round magazines for entry into CA and not assemble them until I leave the state. All guns will be in locked cases with ammo and magazines separate. I plan on bringing 1000rd of ammo for each.

If anyone can see anything I may have missed please let me know.

well for this company to sell a Draco in CA they say they need to install a mag lock (bullet button) and a Sled Mag per CA compliance.

The sled is only needed to DROS. Maglock with 10 rounders is fine with no forward vertical grip on the DRACO.

As a recent Tucson resident, I'll just say...WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? Come on down to Green Valley where all the old people are, I'll take you down to the American Legion for a drink.

None are on the banned list, maglock is all you need.
Threaded barrel on the Draco is fine with the maglock.

Disassemble all magazines that can feed more than 10 rounds, you can not import them even if they are pre-ban.

Secret Asian Man is not reading the law correctly.
The single shot exemption applies only to a California resident purchasing a handgun from a dealer, or purchasing one from an individual out of state.

The "safe handgun roster" does not apply to private party transfers at the same FFL, or to personal importation.

Since you will not be making California your residence, I would not worry about registering the Draco (or any other handguns). That would be required should you get a California license and establish residency, but not for a visitor.

Didn't say he was. He's moving from Tucson, that's the problem.

Both of my wife and I are really tired of the heat, especially her. She says she wants to feel grass under feet again. We have been here for over 14 years now and would like it a bit cooler. I may come back to AZ after the 6 months in CA. It has always been my third choice after OR and NV, if we do it will be in northern AZ. We just wanted to move closer to the kids (Sacramento) to where we were within a 5 to 8 hrs drive of them.
