Have you ever bought a gun because of spare parts lying around?

I thought it would be a funny thread, because it seems to happen to me quite often.

    I will start

I built a complete Ar-15 because I had a carry handle and a vertical fore grip that a friend gave me.

I bought a r700 SPS Tactical because I had a Millet scope but nothing to put it on.

Given I was going to get these sooner or later, but seeing the spare parts lying around pushed me over the edge.

Of course. I once bought a gun after finding a mag for it. Granted, it was a great gun, not some plastic C9.

I think if you are a bit OCD, that's definitely something you're likely to do if you can't find a way to unload those parts.

Bought a 223 700 because my shipper sent wrong scope base's. Also bought a new lower when I bought a rra 2 stage trigger (didn't realize it was a lpk also)

            Garand
            SMLE
            GEW98

I still need to get an 03 Springfield, Lee Metford, K98 to fit the rest of my bayonets.

I built a ar because of a 20rd box of ammo laying around. Beat that!

A "friend" of mine gave me a Makarov magazine and two boxes of 9x18 ammo.
Obviously, I had to go buy the expensive part....the gun.

(..."had" to buy another gun.... )

I do have enough left over 1911 parts to build another gun, all I lack is a frame.
I'm always looking for a cheap frame.

Bought a Heritage .22lr revolver because I had 5000 rounds of Remington POS ammo.

                      Built up an AR22.
Bought 5000 rounds of Thunderbolt 22
                      Went to Burro.
Managed to get 3 rounds to fire. The CMMG upper flat out will not chamber the Thundercrap.

Didn't want to sell it to some poor unsuspecting Calgunner.
                      Didn't want to waste it.
                      Bought the revolver.

Know what? This stuff is actually hard to get into the revolver's chambers... it's no wonder it won't feed in the AR.

I bought a gun once because I found a bunch of 30/30 brass at the range.

all the damned time. sometimes because I have a few (and I mean a few) shells laying around for it or a magazine for it or had (yes, past tense) a set of grips for it. More often though I find some beaten up parts missing hunk of junk gun, get it for free or close to it and spend 20-100 bucks in parts to make it a shooter again. gunpartscorp.com my gateway to happiness.

I bought a gun because someone gave me a set of reloading dies. Can't let those things go to waste!
