    steel core ammo ?

the rule at my local range ( angeles )that you cant use steel core ammo realy bug the c#*P outa me.
I dont know about you guys but I think its just a way to get us to buy their over prices ammo.
I mean if your shooting at a paper target in front of a dirt berm whats the harm ?
OK OK I know that the steel plated will take a beating once and a while but cant they just make them a little thicker or something.

I have an a#$ load of 8mm mauser & 7.62x39 that I cant use unless I make a treak out to the open desert.

Please dont judge me by this post, I'm just letting off a little steam today.

Move to a deserted beach & shoot @ the waves?
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

There are several solid reasons for this.

Outdoor ranges worry most about fire and ricochet danger in comparison to softer core bullets that heavily deform or fragment easily. If you are shooting at steel plates with steel core penetrator type ammo you will severely damage any steel plate no matter how hard or thick it is.

Indoor ranges have steel bullet traps and steel core ammo damages the trap itself and the sparks sometimes set fires in the bullet trap if there is lots of dust buildup inside.

Save your steel core for the rainy time of year way out in the desert so you don't start brush fires when they hit hard rocks and spark.

BTW, many NorCal ranges don't allow steel core penetrator ammo either

Do you not understand the reasons for this? Seems pretty plain and simple to me. If it is an issue, reload.
