Looks like its attached to the hand guard.

Sitting in the handguard, definitely doesn't look attached to anything since the mount is floating over the dust cover(unless that top rail extends a couple of inches over the dustcover or something).

I hope no one who buys that does so with the intent of being taken seriously. I could understand how attractive it would look to, say, a little kid. But after that point, the novelty disappears.
