    Gun socks, safes, etc.

Up to this point I have been able to stealthily add new items to my hobby without the boss noticing. Sadly I am coming to the point that I need to stop buying guns or get a new safe.....or option C: find a better way to store my guns. And buying a new safe would definitely tip my hand. I would rather avoid that route.

Midway has these silicone gun socks. Price looks pretty good but I was curious about putting a gun wrapped up in a sock in a safe. I have a dehumdifying bar in the safe and a desicant so rust hasn't an issue. Would these preventive measures still be effective with guns wrapped up in socks?

Or would rifle rods be a better alternative. Seems like you are still pulling a bunch of guns out to get to the one you want which is almost always in the back but at least you have better airflow.

Thoughts? What are you using to maximize space.

You're forgetting the other advantage of having things in gun socks, they can't get banged up as easily when they bump against eachother.

She'll find out eventually. Just tell her, then buy buy buy. Maybe buy one for her?

I don't get the question. You are still going to put everything in the safe, right?

When things get crowded here I sell something.

Rifle rods are pretty darn good at what they're made for. It'll help.

I use the Bore Store socks on my guns except a few guns that are at the front of the safes. I also have several smaller ones that I keep spare uppers in. The problem is you did not buy a big enough safe!

That's crazy talk! I don't rent guns, I buy them.

As to not buying a big enough safe...it was plenty big when I bought it.

And the wife won't figure it out unless she starts going shooting with me. Which I have been unable to convince her to do up to this point. So I am in the clear for now.

I keep most of my long guns in socks primarily to avoid them banging on each other, etc.

This is also the main reason I keep my long guns in socks. Too many guns, not enough room. I've had no problems. Use silicone socks and desiccant.

Damn, that one is gonna leave a mark!

On the upside everything fits right now, just a little snug, and I only crave 4-5 more long guns to call it good. So socks look to be the way to go.

Anyone using socks AND rifle rods? Or is that just over kill?

I am only messing with you

I live close to the ocean so I use gun socks for my guns and it keeps the rust away.
