I have a question for people with a C&R licence -Please Help!

A friend just got his C&R licence and the Certificate of eligability for curios & relics but the laws are kinda unclear, (at least to me) He's planning on buying a Colt Commemorative handgun, now were going to meet at a gun store but is the dros the same like a PPT? and does he have to wait the 10 days and have the gun store hold it like a normal ppt or can he buy the commemorative and take it home using his licence? -if we still have to go through the gun store and pay the $35 thats not that big of deal but he would like to be able to take it home on his licence if thats legaly. Any help is greatly appreciated -thanks

10 days if the gun is not a c&r (50yrs old),special runs are not exempt .unless it is listed by atf

if it is a c&r handgun, either by being 50-years-old as a relic OR being listed specificially by ATF as a curio. As such, they can go to the dealer to do a PPT DROS but with the buying having an 03FFL+COE, he is exempt from the waiting period on that C&R handgun. The dealer would PPT DROS it to him, but he could take it home immediately, no 10 day wait.
