I'm no pro here, but wouldn't a low profile red dot sight look a little better on that rifle?

The sight mount is shoot through and is the perfect height so it allows me to use the iron sights while the scope is still mounted. best of both worlds.
Why do you need a QD mount, and a see through mount? If you need to use the irons, just take the scope off. There's no way you're getting more than a chin-weld(if that) with the scope that high.

        Sure would,

But for my case..my eyes aren't too great shooting over 50yards. can't go wrong with optics. 6x beats red dot
Plus it kind of defeats the purpose of the rifle if you have to keep putting on a sight on every time you want to shoot it.
You might as well just get regular carbine.

I hunt with it. So I want both options. I'm not going to use the scope if something in front of me is 15 yards away.
I've learned to shoot it without a cheek weld. It's a small rifle, a little technique will do fine.
The QD mount allows me to take the scope off with no tools to fold it.

I say it's fine but it has room improvement, lots of room!

I'm pretty sure we were both looking at the same picture.

If you feel that a single scope ring, attached to a plastic rail is GTG, then good for you.

It sounded like you were trashing the rifle. To which in my opinion is far from useless.

If your sights or scope don't function properly when needed, then it is pretty much a useless gun.....unless the plan is to use it as a club and not a rifle.

I would recommend another mount to hold it on both in front of and behind the turrets if you can. Also looks like your gonna be getting chin weld as it looks high, but it works and doesn't move then go for it
I agree, add another mount to make it more stable and alot more durable and able to withstand bumbs.
Also, If it works, go with it, like another calgunner said, its not a beauty pagent! No need to dump more money on just looks when its perfectly capable!

I may be wrong, but that optic looks like a Leupold 1-4x20 scope... not much magnification at all. I've seen some hunting revolvers with more powerful optics mounted.

Like sdukeric, it sounded to me like you were trashing the weapon, not the sighting arrangement. Hence the "drive-by crapping" remark.

You fail at reading, both my post and the OP. I don't believe I see "plastic rail" mentioned by anyone but you. The rails supplied with the accessory forend from Kel-Tek are aluminum. Your "known to function arrangements" are still being invented for this platform, such as it is.

I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

With the optic mounted that high I question if you are able to get a correct cheek weld and eye relief. If you are having to shoot in an awkward position then look into a lower mount. Are you able to get a clear sight picture in your natural shooting position? Try mounting the weapon on your shoulder with your eyes closed. If you are having to raise your head or adjust position when you open your eyes to see through the optic then you need to adjust it. My guess is you will need a lower mount unless you have a really big head.
