Can someone explain this logo to me?

It comes on some handguns and shotguns but I am not sure what it means. It is not brand specific as I have seen it on three different brand weapons. Anyone care to explain it?

it looks to be purely cosmetic, kinda like those lowers from Spike's Tactical with the punisher logo on them. Make the gun look "cooler" with a little attitude...

and as far as cosmetic logos go, that looks like a pretty catchy one. I wouldn't mind having that on a few of my guns...

ETA: after a little time on google, i've only seen this particular logo on Mossberg 500s. Looks like they did a special run with this pattern on it for cosmetic purposes...

I have seen them on Glocks as well.

At first I thought it was a Glock thing but then I saw it on my new Mossberg.

It looks like a big sporting goods wholesaler, Ellett Brothers, is having this logo added to all kinds of shooting products.

Ellett Brothers launches Homeland Defender brand
          Shooting Industry, Dec, 2006

Ellett Brothers has recruited several manufacturers of consumer tactical defense products and launched a new brand. Homeland Defender. The brand, according to Ellett Brothers, "offers readiness-minded citizens the first comprehensive line of consumer tactical firearms and equipment, emergency products and mission-ready accessories."

The Homeland Defender product line currently includes tactical rifles and shotguns from Bushmaster and Mossberg; handguns from Glock and Taurus; ammunition from Federal Premium and CCI; chemical sprays and stun guns from Sabre; and sights, flashlights, tools and accessories from EOTech, LaserLyte and Pelican.

The brand was launched in response to the growing need for self-defense products, as highlighted by 9-11, Hurricane Katrina and the war on terror, according to Ellett Brothers. These events also revealed "a new groundswell of courageous Americans who refuse to be passive victims."

"As Americans, we're rediscovering our national heritage of self-reliance," said Chuck Walker, vice president of sales and marketing for Ellett Brothers. "Personal responsibility is an American point of pride. We can and should be ready for anything. That's why each Homeland Defender product has been selected for optimum deterrence effect, tactical performance and reliability in critical situations. Consumers can now equip themselves completely, easily, and with more assurance than ever before."

Ellett Brothers and participating manufacturers developed distinctive packaging for the Homeland Defender products, which are now available at select gun shops and sporting-goods retailers. In addition, Homeland Defender caps and clothing will be available at dealers and online at the new brand's Web site.

For more information, contact Ellett Brothers at 1-800-845-3711 or visit www.homelanddefender.com.
