    Hello From Central California

    Hello Calgun members,

I'm getting into firearms and wanted to learn more about with like minded people. I used to own a .22 rifle as a kid. Recently I had a one on one lesson with an instructor and got a one year membership at my local pistol range which include free gun rental and 12 guest pass. I have shot Walther P22, Mk3, Ruger single ten, P226, XD40, MP40, 1911 .45, CZ75 .40, Glock 19, Glock 22, and maybe more. I purchase a P22 for practice and was thinking of getting a MP 15-22 to practice with as well. Both are in .22 so the ammo would be low cost which I could practice more without the high cost as it is with firearms already. I could start of with a P226 and an AR 15 but I have other hobbies that requires funding. Also I would like to get the basics and fundamentals dialed in. Down the line I will add more guns to my collection anyways if I want to get more serious. I been reading many forums and learning a much as possible. If anyone has suggestions or tips please feel free to share.

    Thanks for your time.

Welcome to Calguns. A .22 is a great first choice, lots of trigger time for not much money. Enjoy.

Sounds like you're in Fresno at The Range?

If so, hit me up next time you go. I've been wanting to go play with my 15-22 again, and I'd be happy to let you test drive it.

Didn't help me 'cause she likes guns as much as I do .
CalGuns Network (CGN) is different from CalGuns Foundation (CGF). Both need our support. I have gold name because I support CGN; plus, I send $10 every two weeks to CGF automatically via online BillPay as described here.

Support CGF by shopping at Amazon!

30 years or so, and I'm turning 35 this month.

I've got a Ruger 10/22 and a S&W M&P15-22, and a Beretta 92SF. That's all that I can use at The Range. Everything else is too big and loud for them, but there's a couple other places around.

Okay, you can come use my 15-22 also. Sheesh.

I just turned 29 Capricorn rocks! hahaha. I could still remember when I was able to use a 25rnd banana clip in my .22 rifle.

The only other range that I been to is the one on Herndon and Weber. I actually prefer an out door range but The Pistol Range was the only one I could try out (rent) different handguns. I'm going to shop around town for a MP 15-22 next week on my days off. What is a price range would one expect to pay for one here in Fresno? The Walther P22 I got came out to $424 with taxes and background check fee.

I also want to work on getting a CCW as well.

Thanks again everyone for the welcomes!

M&P goes on sale now and then at Big 5. I got mine summer 2010, think I paid ~$475 or so out the door? Don't remember for sure.
