    Opinions on Howa?

So if there is one void in my gun safe, its a long distance shooter. I've been doing some research and I think im settled on .308 for my platform. Im definitely not made of money, so unfortunately ill have to stick to a entry level gun. I was wondering if anybody has opinions on Howa 1500? How does it compare with the Savages in .308? Any other thoughts/comments for a .308 noob?
    Thanks!

    I really like my 223 Howa 1500.

I have a 1500 in .243 and I like it. The bolt has a little play in it, but it shoots straight. I got it with the thumb hole stock and it really makes the gun.

I have a Howa 1500 in 308 that I bought for a brush rifle. It's solid if heavy and the only real complaint (besides weight) is the Hogue stock is way too flexible. I had a 30-06 for a while but replaced it with a Tikka T3 Lite to save a bit of weight. Accuracy was decent but it was purchased as a hunting rifle and I never spent a lot of time trying to make little tiny groups with it - the Hogue stock made that too challenging.

        Personally I like Savages.

FWIW, for many years Weatherby rifles were built on Howa made actions. I have one and am very pleased with it in quality and performance.

I had one of the Weatherby Vanguards built by Howa chambered in 7mm Rem Mag. after a little bit of tuning and with some handloads it would group between .75"-1"
