    Techsoldier's Product Photo Thread

Messing around with the camera tonight and thought I'd take a couple pics of my PA Micro Dot and Magnifier. I think the photos came out ok but I'm really excited to see what I can do when my softbox setup comes in.....hopefully this week.

Anyways, just thought I'd share and I'll be updating this thread with more as my AR parts start to come in. You can also view my build thread here

      Nice pics!!

OT, but that PA magnifier has too much rubber on it for my taste. Makes it look like a WW2 pineapple grenade.

Needs white or a lighter background. Shadows a no no, photoshop you must. Sorry they look decent, I'm no pro or anything though.

I could use a white background but its just too boring. Dark was the intention with only highlights of the product itself. Also keep in mind these photos were taken with a kit lens and only the lighting in the kitchen. When I get my softbox ill have much better lighting and ill be able to switch backgrounds. Also going to try a few of my other lenses. Should have more posted tonight if my order comes in today.

But I must say...your gear lacks "character"

Time to get some battle scars.

How do you get "battle scars" on a range gun?

product photography is tough. Lighting is decent...softbox will help.

Try using a smaller aperture is you are trying to show off the whole product.

Taking pics of all the new components for the new AR. So yeah, no battle scars at least not yet. As for the photos, I'm intentionally going for a darker look to only highlight certain parts of the product. Will test more with a softbox.
