    Need for handgun safety certificate

I know this may be a slightly stupid question, but am I required to have a handgun safety certificate, if I'm a retired member of the U. S. military? I've had weapons for gads of years, but have been of the opinion that my military retired ID card meets the critiera for weapons safety training. God knows I've been safety trained on almost all different weapons.

One question: In the military or as a police officer can you be dishonorably retired?

I call it my get our of jail free card...

Though it does everything "except" it won't get me out of jail free.

I think this and the 10% off at Lowes are the bene's I use the most.

            No...

Retirement is always honorable and it can be revoked on some special circumstances.

sucks, honorably discharged was removed some years ago.
Because of my injury I couldn't serve 20 years to become retired and and no longer exempt.

Does my UT or FL CWP allow the CA exemption?

after reading it and going to the DOJ web site it looks as if it does.

Make sure to ask the specific shop at the beginning of the transaction. When I went to DROS my last pistol, the store said retired was not exempted. During my 10 day ban I researched it and found what was posted earlier. Printed it out and took it with me. Turns out their "quick reference chart" was wrong. They did ask to see my DD214 because they said medically retired was not exempted.

Have a read of the actual legislation. Concealed weapons permit issued under section 26150 of the CA code........
There are no great men. Just great challenges which ordinary men, out of necessity, are forced by circumstance to meet.

Interesting find about other than honorable retirement. According to several sources the navy Astronaut that traveled cross country to kidnap to other girl was demoted one rank and retired with other than honorable conduct.

"Her retirement takes effect Sept. 1. She will receive retirement pay, but her eligibility for Veterans Affairs benefits may be impacted by her punishment."
