Places to shoot in BORREGO SPRINGS???

No shooting in and around Borrego Springs!. Firearms are not allowed. Reason being is that it is state park. State park surrounds Borrego Springs. You can go down towards Ocotillo Wells to the Blue Inn. From there, jump into the San Felipe wash and head south about two miles or so and you will be into BLM land. Watch out for off-roaders. Another place out in OW is out to the end of Split Mountian Rd. At the RR tracks turn left, follow the tracks for about a mile and when you find a spot to cross the tracks you can shoot up against the mountian - BLM land.Comment

Hello All,
I'm a new member here.
I was looking for information about a shooting range that is near Borrego Springs. I stumbled into this thread and thought I'd add what little I've found out.
There is a formal shooting range about 7-1/2 miles south-east of Borrego Springs on the north side of the Borrego Springs Road. It is roughly across the road from the Rams Hill Country Club. Judging from Google Maps they appear to have both Trap and Skeet ranges, as well as rifle and pistol ranges.
The range may be called DeAnza Sportsmen's Club/Borrego Valley Sportsmen's Club, as shown on these web sites:
California gun club and shooting range listing. Find gun club information for rifle, pistol and shotgun. Information on indoor and outdoor ranges
However, neither the telephone number nor the email address are valid. I don't know if it is open to the public or what it costs to shoot there. Furthermore, I haven't been able to find it listed on other Internet shooting range sites, such as:
Our team researched reviews and surveyed readers across our great nation to create our list of the best shooting ranges in the United States.
I would appreciate any up-to-date information that anyone has.

Wow, yes very old, but I’ll add.....
I once knew a Riverside Deputy sheriff that told me Riverside County has an ordinance that forbids public target shooting anywhere in Riverside county, outside of legal hunting and except in designated ranges and some private land. I don’t remember what the county code was as this was back in the early 90’s.
He said that people still go out and shoot on public land all the time, but it is still illegal to do so anywhere within the county.
Perhaps any Riverside deputies here would know the county code of said violation. Either way, just do your research to see if this is in fact still the law.
