moving a hand gun from pa to ca

Hey guys and girls I am moving from pa to ca in a couple of weeks and I am looking to bring a hand gun with me(was a carry weapon in pa and will be a home defense weapon in ca

I have called a couple of gun shops in san diego to see if they would let me do an ffl to ffl transfer and they all want 75-100 bucks plus ca tax. This is not a new weapon and I have already paid pa taxes on it when I purchased it.

What would be the cheapest way to get the gun into ca? I will be flying and shipping my truck/belongings on a transport semi. Thanks

I know I have to register the weapon within 60 days of entering ca, I am just looking for the most economical way to get the gun to ca(overnight fed ex or ups is about 100 bucks also) Thanks

Check with DMV, IIRC they have a form to fill out. I don't know if you have to deal with a FFL, or not. Try checking with or calling CA DOJ. Put unloaded (any ammo attached to the gun in any way makes it loaded in CA, even shotgun shell holders on the gun) guns in a locked case & take with you or put with your stuff. You can fly with your guns, check with your airline.

you can just bring it with you on the airplane as checked baggage. check with the airline for the exact procedures. There is no need to fedex it or UPS it to your new address or to a CA FFL.

the handgun already belongs to you so there is no need to transfer it back to yourself using an FFL. Just fill out the new resident importer form once you bring the handgun to CA, http://oag.ca.gov/sites/oag.ca.gov/f...s/ab991frm.pdf

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

        Lesson one:

Some CA ffl's don't know much about CA gun laws.
