    Bore Snakes

I have a .223 Hoppes bore snake and I love it, nice tight fit and works very well. However, I also have a .30 cal bore snake and it's not thick enough for a tight fit in the Mosin and SKS. So I am hoping there is a different brand that makes a thicker .30 cal snake. Or would I be ok going with the next size up?

Before all the bore snake haters come in, for deep cleaning or after a long session at the range I use a Dewey rod/brushes/patches.

Bigger may work or may lead to the snake wearing out early.
I use a .45 in my 9mm and it seems to be okay.
Unlike a .45 brush where the bristles pop out after stoking a 9mm, the bristles seem to have held up okay.
There are always haters in the crowd - can they repent? or better yet just stay silent?
    You will soon find out.

I've never had a problem using a .30 bore snake in Mosins. I've even used mine in 7.92x57, and never had a problem with it.

Reminds me though, I need to get one now for 9mm ...

Great for a quick cleanup after a few rounds, I use them all, but I'd do a more intensive cleaning after a long session.

Does anyone know a legit place that had quality bore snakes for a good price? The ones I see here seem super expensive.

Bore Snake is a brand name, much like Kleenex, that has become almost a generic term for a category of product. That said, I'm not sure what you mean by "expensive." Amazon has the (genuine) .22/5.56 and .30 / .308 / 7.62 / .303 ones for right about $15.00.

The .30 cal snake fits fine in my MN, but you should be fine if you go the next step up to the .32/8mm one.

That's what I mean, they are like $26-$35 locally, so I guess I will have to go to Amazon. Good thing I have a gift card

If you have a valid student email address you can sign up for an Amazon Prime account for $40/year. It gives you unlimited free two-day shipping and access to Amazons instant streaming. If you buy 3 iteams from Amazon a year it pays for itself in shipping costs alone. I use it for a lot of my firearms needs/wants.

True, but if you spend $25 or more shipping is free anyway on most items, and it isn't hard spending $25, especially on gun stuff.
