Just would like to know what everyone prefers using as an over all cleaner. To the point of taking a pistol down to nothing and putting all the parts allowable in to soak before brushing off, rinising off, drying and then lube and put back together.
Heard about something called froglube but it pretty high dollar or so it seemed when I saw it.
Looking for something that can be good but low budget at the same time.

Water and Simple Green mixed, then a nice run through the heated ultrasonic cleaner. Pull out immediately after the final cycle. Parts are so hot the water instantly evaporates. Oil thoroughly, reassemble.

Caveat, though - using that particular cleaner, you're limited to a 480 second cycle time, and it usually takes 2-3 cycles for the water to get super hot. You have to keep re-starting it right away.

Sonic Cleaner to save money

Seems like purchasing a sonic cleaner would be more expensive than purchasing FrogLube. Plus you won't be cleaning your guns in WATER!

1. I rarely (if ever) have time to completely detail-strip and scrub every single piece of a firearm. The ultrasonic cleaner I posted a link to is large enough to take multiple AR lowers (minus buffer tube, but then you could also leave that hanging out of the tub), or 4-5 pistols. At once.

2. Because I rarely have time to detail-strip and manually scrub every single part, I do like the idea that my cleaning method will do it for me, with minimal interaction. The vibrations get everywhere. Without disassembling anything.

3. Absent the use of harsh solvents, hot water and a non-foaming cleaner such as Simple Green does a great job with everything up to and including corrosive primer deposits. It does a better job, in fact, than ammonia-based cleaners, with the added benefit that it doesn't hurt the finish and won't damage aluminum.

4. It's worth noting that the cleaner I linked to costs roughly as much as three containers of FrogLube, and is very much a multi-purpose tool. It can clean virtually anything. Jewelry. Car parts. Tools. Small pets that you don't like very much. Anything. Also, it routinely is on sale for much less than this, and there's almost always a coupon for 10-20%, sometimes 50%. As for reliability ... mine's been going for well over a year now, not a single hitch.

5. I don't have a big advertisement in my signature saying that I stand to make a profit when you buy the product I'm recommending ... because I don't. I'm a satisfied customer, not a salesman.

Would have been more apporpriate to maybe try and snare a new customer in a PM in lieu of in front of God and everyone.

What i was wondering though is will it disolve bone over time as well and do they have a larger model?
Oh now.... I am just kidding.... relax all of you...
Thanks for the input. One quick question if anyone will address it and reply, is that CLp stuff any good? and how does it compare, if at all, to the LSA, Weapons Oil, Medium, MIL-L-46000A{2} 9150-889-3522 Dsa-600-68-C-1369.
TMI,... but it's mostly all there.. the white stuff. Been using that for awhile as it is plentiful where I am and cheap. But I would like to know how it compares to some of the newer stuff that is available as this is some old stuff.

Sorry, should have been more specific: Simple Green Pro HD is safe for use on aluminum, and was developed in part for use on aircraft.

You could always clean with nonchlorinated brake cleaner and lube with Mobil 1 motor oil. These things would basically work.

I almost feel like I am back on ar15.condescend....
I don't know if this was a legit reply or not but I am looking for something that can be done, done right, and done once. Until the next time of course. I have used the Mil-Spec LSA for many years and I am of the mindset that if it ain't broke dont' f with it. But,... if there is something new, which is entirely possible these days, then I would by all means like to get a heads up on it.
Until then,I'll stick with the tried and true...
