For some history check out the old Wamo cap fired toy pistols back in the 1950's. They had an important ruling about those. SGN had a great article about them a few years back.

Get an original Belgium Baby Browning for sure. They were made blued or Chrome/Nickel with an aluminum frame. The smallest reliable semi-auto 6.35mm made.
