anyone use gentex 1030a type ear protection?

Try them and Cabelas web site. You'll need to compare the specs and see if they are the same or not. I have a Peltor model that seems to be similar (but only one control).

Personally, I find the Harbor Freight $12 model to not be good enough protection for my hearing.

On the Outdoor Channel there is an add for a Caldwell model that is low cost ($30?), but, good featured. Midway USA should have it.
