Agreed - 100% we move into areas kick out the local animal population then piss and moan if they come back. I was sitting in a Peet's the other day and there was a new housing development, thankfully sidelined called "Hare Run" or something like that, very ironic.

Wolves only help to strengthen wildlife populations just like God intended them too. Ranchers and the uneducated sportsman should learn why and how Wolves actually help. Beg to differ there. There has been one known attack. As far as i am concerned I have no problem with wolves repopulating areas. I also feel that if you have a ranch thats just part of doing business to have some loss to wild animals. You can deduct the loss on your taxes or you can charge more for your beef cattle to make up the difference on your losses. And even if this wolf was to start a pack it would be a hell of a long time before wolves made a comeback in california and they became a threat to cattle ranching. And before you guys start with the government and taxpayer money subsidizes the ranchers you can easily just pay more for your steak to make up the "losses" of the cattle ranchers cause the ranchers could charge more for the beef. Government doesn't need to subsidize anything.
Personally I hope that wolves do make a comeback in California but I doubt thats gonna happen anytime soon. Wolves will cull out the old and sickly wild animals for the most part.


IMO cougars are more of a problem in california than wolves will ever be. Cougars have actually attacked and KILLED people as a known FACT.

So, who's smarter than us on this planet?

As for us being the only ones who kill "for fun", you've never had a cat, have you? And that's not the only animal like that out there. For that matter, humans are actually the only animals even bothering to try to kill "humanely". Nature's generally quite cruel, you know. Well, uncaring, which usually results in things we'd consider cruel, from our point of view.

Wolf is a predator, same as bears, mountain lions, sharks, humans, etc., and it's big enough to take down a human, especially since wolves mostly hunt in packs. To think that a capable predator would just forgo its potential prey without a great incentive to do so (such as attacking it being too dangerous, for example) is naive, and it feeds into the whole "noble savage" concept.

Finally, Defenders of Wildlife is an unbiased and credible source now?

It seems like you made wolves into "noble savages", and for the same reasons the concept of a "noble savage" was originally invented.

With all that, I think wolves have their place, and I'm far from advocating their extermination. I always wanted a pet wolf, actually (there, flame away ). It's just that naive opinions like yours (and the laws passed based on them) go against the grain with me.
