Just caught the tail end of the news that San Diego P.D. were giving away Gift cards for your mint remington shotgun and that old 1911 of Granpa's that he had in the war. Oh, and dont to forget to turn in your evil Fal or Ak. I'm running down there right now before they run out of cards! Jus Rantin!

Gift Cards for Guns?????? Really?????
Tags: None -
a few people once turned up a block away with their own gun buyback deal doing the ffl transfers as needed and was totally legal much to the annoyance of the local pd ..maybe we should do that again excellent time for late christmas gifts"There is only one tactical principle which is not subject to change. It is to use the means at hand to inflict the maximum amount of wound, death, and destruction on the enemy in the minimum amount of time."
- General George S. Patton, Jr.Comment

I saw the same news story. The card values were $100 for handguns and standard rifles and $200 cards for "assault rifles with detachable magazines."
According to the news story 163 guns were turned in but the organizers only had $7,500 in gift cards so not everyone received a gift card.
Quote from story....
"[It] sounded like a really good deal," said Amber Hardin, who arrived to turn in her four rifles at around 11 a.m. By the time she got there, organizers had run out of nearly $7,500 worth of gift cards, but she said she decided to turn in her rifles anyway.
All guns exchanged will be "melted down and used for scrap metal."

Watching the video this idiot said he was turning in a S&W 1906. Really?!?! WFT?!?! A piece of history just to be melted down? Why did this moron buy a gun to begin with?El Cajon resident Tim Blake said he never used his gun before so he decided to get rid of it.
"The more guns off the street, the less serious crimes are committed," said Blake.
I like how the newscasters were claiming it was a success for getting "guns off the streets in a matter of hours". Are you ****ing kidding me? Looks to me out of the people questioned there were two stupid law abiding gun owners, and one tweeker. I always figured the program was to get hoods to turn in stolen and illegal stuff. Not for idiot gun OWNERS to turn in a perfectly good working legal firearm. ****, I want to kick that guy in the nutz so badly right now.

Now there's some FUD if I've ever heard it.The San Diego Police Department said there is a direct correlation between the gun exchange and the reduction in violent crime.Last edited by TheExpertish; 12-20-2011, 8:40 AM.sigpic

Yes. It’s a “Gun -buy-back” thingy. There is another thread about it in one of the other sections of CGN.
Welcome!
