STS Guns is now open in Folsom! They're just down the street from me at 691 E. Bidwell so I was exited that they're finally open after weeks of delays. Their website shows what they look like from the outside: http://stsguns.com/
At 3:30pm Sunday afternoon, my husband and I walked in, and although from the outside it looks like the store is stocked full, it seems they're still in the process of setting up because the large store is almost 3/4 empty.
On the left as you walk in there's a large receptionist desk and greeter, and beyond that all along the left wall are a good number of floor safes and gun lockers of various types and quality, and a tent. On the right as you enter are rifle cases, and beyond that are some empty display cases and hunting rifles and bows and associated gear on the walls. Towards the middle right are several racks of small accessories such as grips and sights and cleaning stuff. Along the rear wall are two counters full of the most popular handguns by Glock, S&W, Beretta, H&K, and a lot more. On the left and right of the pistol counters and on the back wall are just a few ARs and AR parts, rails, lowers and uppers. In the middle on the back wall is a small ammo rack behind the handgun counter.
The employees were attentive and friendly, and there were around 5-6 other customers browsing in the store. We were surprised that we found no visible opening sales or deals of any kind in the whole store.
We went in not only to take a look around, but to buy a specific gun to support our new local store. We were only slightly disappointed that they did not have it in stock, but we were very disappointed when they said they could not even order it, and on top of that they couldn't tell us a price. Another big disappointment was the pack of 4-5 children running full tilt around the store, screaming and yelling at each other, playing and throwing merchandise, who were constantly being hollered at by the receptionist to stop what they were doing. I don't think a gun store is a good place to babysit your kids while you're working, but hey, that's just me.
So, we didn't spend as much time in the store as we would have liked due to the screaming children, but overall the store may have potential once the kinks are worked out.
