    cleaning kit!

So far ive been using bore snake to clean my rifles. Now im slowly building up more toys. So far i have 3 rifles one of them being a AR style .22lr and 2 pistols and probablu an ak and shotgun down the line.
Can u guys recommend any cleaning kits?
I was looking into otis and they have this ultimate cleaning kit but im not sure if i need all that plus its over 100 bucks. The only cleaning kit i got is the dewey AR kit. Although i need to get the rod that attaches to the dewey kit so that i can clean down the barrel.

    Thanks

Hoppe's makes an OK set, downside- comes in a plastic clam shell. I found a nice vintage metal Hoppe's box at an estate sale to put it in.

having a large cleaning kit box of your own choosing lends itself to customizing your cleaning kit. i have a large old UMCO fishing tackle box with many foldout trays that serves as my primary cleaning box. it has ample room below the trays for large items.

i don't go with one prepackaged cleaning kit; i add on and replace things as needed.

Get yourself a multiple tray tackle box. Different caliber accessories can be kept separate. I would like to say "organized" but my tackle box/cleaning kit is a bigger ****hole than my wife's purse!

You can save $$$ by buying the Otis 10 packs of bore brushes & big packs of caliber specific patches. Or just buy big patches & cut as needed.

Over time you will accumulate rods, patches, jags, whatnots. I like not having to change out brushes for patch holders, etc.

I like Dewey rods, though they're not easily transportable compared to Otis.

I carry an OTIS kit in my range, hunting packs. This is my mobile kit.

I have the Hoppe's rifle kit and Hoppe's shotgun kit at home. I threw away the containers they came in and bought an organizer (think tackle box) for them.

Midway U.S.A has some pre-built kits that are pretty good but may exceed your cost restrictions.

Dewey rods are good quality; worth buying individually.

Good tip. But if i do go with the otis kit, I assume you don't need to buy their specific patches and just buy universal patches and cut as needed. Correct?

I was looking into the otis elite cleaning kit cause on amazon they have it on sale for $87 plus otis has a $15 mail in rebate. I also have over $60 amazon gift card. Which will make it practically free.

I like the Patch Worm from 20/20 Products. The kit fits in my pocket and cleans every firearm I own from .22 to 12 guage.

Thats correct. Just buy a complete kit (the Tactical deluxe I believe) and you're set. Add you favorite travel size oil and solvent, necessary brushes and even better. I keep an Otis kit in my range bag and use it when I want to clean in the field. I keep the Dewey's and other bore guides at home.

Otis kits are good, but I'd still keep some kind of cleaning rod in a range bag just in case.

Make sure you get these and use them every time. Some toxic stuff out there.

I also recommend you get these, my wife had some, tried them out and the clean up carbon, solvent and oil like a sponge.

Great way to clean an area before you reoil it.

                            Cosmetic sponges:

I'd also recommend non toxic solvents like Frog Lube, Slip EWL to clean your gun, good stuff, espeially slip EWL 2000 gun oil, that stuff will stay on for many many moons even after I fire 200+ rounds in my AR, it's still in the barrel, Bolt Carrier Group and upper receiver.

I do have a box of purple nitrile gloves and i just bought a kit of FL.

I hear some good things about FL. I'm going to put it on my pistols and use it on my AR .22LR, AR barrel, BCG, certain area on my Geisselle trigger group, some parts of the upper rec.

                              Thanks for the tip.
