While I think this is cool, all three of my local shops (which means all of San Francisco, really) on this side of the bay are closed on Mondays, and Nov. 19th is a Monday. I think it's very common for gun shops to close on Monday because they stay open Saturday, using Sunday/Monday as their weekend.

I actually got a response back - it's not the greatest, but it's a response.

National Ammo Day is a fixed date (November 19), but after the first year we broadened the purchasing period that "counts" to include the bookend weekends. Weekend days are often inappropriate because of religious observances. Although the official day remains as November 19, by expanding the buying period it also allows people who purchase their ammunition at gun shows to find a weekend to make their purchases.

This week the purchasing week is November 17 until November 25.

Faxes, emails, and phone calls to Representatives can and should occur on the day (November 19).

I would assume so but it would not hurt to go by a local store and buy some ammo since the dealers in CA are being driven out of business

Do reloading components count? I no longer can afford to by loaded ammo so I only shoot reloads.

No kidding. And ammo isn't sold directly from the ammo manufacturers. So how will they know if it worked? I guess only if all of the Big 5's and Wally Worlds and every other place that sells ammo orders alot to replace all the crap they just sold. Gun stores don't call their suppliers saying "Well we sold two boxes of 22lr on Monday, and three on Tuesday...but only one on Wednesday, so send me 6 boxes to replace them". It's gotta be nearly impossible to track.

i dont know of any small shops in chino. all we have is turners and bass pro shop. and besides isnt the costa mesa show this weekend
