    Warning on SogArmory purchases!

So i need to rant for a second...

I placed an order for an ejection port cover on 10/16. I received an email
thanking me for my purchase saying my item will be processed the next business
    day.

On 11/6 (three weeks later! ) I emailed them back asking where my item was and
if they could provide a tracking order.
On 11/7 I received an email saying it was on back order, nothing more.
That same day I emailed them back, thanked them for the update and asked when
    they expected more in stock.
On 11/15 I received an email saying the earliest they expect them would be "next
    week".

I received no response from them after that so by 12/9 I emailed them asking if
there has been any update on my order status. The next day on 12/10 they
apparently just received the new covers and my cover would be
    sent out that day.

EDIT: so I appreciate the advice from everyone so far. I rubbed/wiped the port cover when I first removed it but nothing in depth. I will try the mentioned suggestions to avoid any further headache. I've just never ordered a gun part and had it come looking in any condition other than brand spanking new but I hope all is fixed with a little oil. Still not happy about the customer service tho

Put some oil on it. It's just dry as a bone. The marks you see will go away.

what he said. dried parkerizing and the like appear to be scratched when, in fact, its' just because it's dry.

X3, oil it. Doesn't look used to me.

So I oiled it pretty good, wiped it down and used a silicone cloth to remove any fingerprints and whatnot, still seeing marks though. The port cover on my upper came looking super clean and smooth. This one not even close. Still disappointed.

It is a tool, not a fashion accessory.

In this case, I'm not so sure.

Id like to comment on your original post about customer service.

In August i ordered an item from Gunsource and clearly on the forms it was in stock. Its now December and i still dont have it. Backordered. Last month they charged my card (they dont charge until they ship, they say) and a month later still no item. Strangely im not angry yet.

Sometimes you have to be super patient. Online sellers source their items widely and are prisoners of whatever happens up and down the river from their spot. They dont necessarily mean to do the wrong thing. Ive bought many times from Gunsource and no problems at all. If I had another source for this item id cancel my order. So i just wait. But I think sellers should be honest about their abilities and not say they have something to sell when they really dont.

If it wasn't supposed to have some aesthetic value they wouldn't engrave them with different little Quips or sayings so no, it's not a "fashion accessory", but I'm also not gonna put on a beat up looking port if the stock one is in better condition.

You try contacting them about the problem? Sooner woukd be better than later as i doubt they will see your thread here in calguns. Either they will make the situation right or you will know never to do business with them again and i would let them know that as well. Not sire how much $ your out for it but if they do screw you, you could see if you have an engraving company near you and have your nice cover engraved.

I received an email from a different SogArmory employee today saying that in the haste of sending out the order certain steps were not done to remove the "used" look. They are sending out a new port cover soon. to SogArmory.
