We here in (most of) California are a little spoiled. I think we have all seen photos or videos of shooting ranges in the midwest that are essentially nothing more than six foot berms on the plains. It's scary just looking at them. I am used to shooting into a hill. Every time.

I am aware of some other ranges in the flatlands that feature short wooden towers from which the users shoot, so their shots are always going down into the ground.

Hunting, with bullets or slugs, in the flatlands seems to me to be exceedingly dangerous except in the most remote locations.
