Hi, I live in So Cal and am going to the San Francisco area to visit family. I want to take them shooting for their first time while I am up there. Can someone recommend an outdoor range which will allow me to shoot my pistols, rifles and shot guns at the same location? I am trying to find a range that will allow me to do hand throwing for clay target shooting instead of a trap and skeet setup. The ranges I go to down here have an area set aside for hand throwing clay targets which makes it nice when you go and want to do a little of everything. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Now, I didn't check out the shotgun section, but Chabot across the bay seems like it would fit your bill.
I thinking USI in Concord would too, but I've never been there. Perhaps someone else here can fill you in.sigpic

USI does not allow hand throwing of clays. They have 11 fields of trap/skeet.Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...
I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Bullseye San Rafael, about 30 minutes north of SF. Go there because they rock and you'll get the tourist advantage of getting to drive across the GG bridge. It's pistols and rimfire rifles only I think, indoor range. Still worth the drive IMO.

Sunnyvale does not allow hand-throwing either, but it is outdoors. They won't let you shoot a pistol at less then 25 yards, so bring binoculars so you can see the holes in the target. They also have steel targets for handguns at 25 yards and at 100 yards for rifles.Sunnyvale Rod and Gun
Los Altos does allow hand-throwing, but I think you have to bring your own biodegradable pidgins for that. It's been a while since I went there so I could be remembering wrong.Los Altos Rod and GunComment

Los altos rod and gun has clay launchers that you load yourself and shoot right there, no official game, there are plenty of rifle and pistol lanes, and the 40yd tin can range is tons of fun.Last edited by dirtykoala; 12-12-2011, 5:38 PM.Comment

Shotguns at Bullseye San Rafael
Bullseye San Rafael does allow shotguns on the range, but it is an indoor range so no clays. Just hanging paper.
We allow all .410 except for slugs, and 12 and 20 gauge using #8 lead shot. We have a Remington 870 20 gauge with the Knoxx/Blackhawk adjustable pistol grip stock in our rental fleet. We also have an AR-15 with a Trijicon Reflex mounted you can shoot with .223 frangible, or with a .22LR botl conversion.
We have lots of handguns on our rental fleet as well, including Glocks, Sigs, XD's, HK's, FN's, Rugers, S&W's inlcuding an M&P, and a Wilson Combat. (Need to bring a friend to rent, or if your coming by yourself you need to bring a firearm you own with you.)
Thanks,
