    CSI FN P90 monster!!!!!

My sister is watching CSI, and at the beginning of the episode I heard "5.7x28" and I was all like OMG! They talking about FN five-seven, cool. A few minutes later, a "ballistics expert" looks at the 5.7 case and says "you can't even buy this ammo in the states." Throughout the episode they have been saying (about the p90 and the 5-7 round) "it can cut people in half" "That is a lot of gun, I couldn't handle it" "it is a monster" it is a beast", etc

    and its getting worse

It is definitely a train wreck situation

LOL, you thought a show like CSI wasn't going to have absolutely ridiculous dialog about guns? haha.

I knew there would be FUD, and misinfo, I just didn't think they would be so.... blatantly ignorant about it. I'm thinking CA has a 5.7 ban in the works for this much misinfo to be pumped through the tube

They are probably leading to an episode in January when I am one of the bad guys shooting that gun to kill one of the main characters. It has been filmed already, and I am looking forward to seeing the episode when it is aired. It was fun shooting that gun.

Dude, just take it like anything else on fictional TV. You're talking about TV shows where the basic idea of a desktop computer is made to sound like it's some mystical gateway that allows intergalactic communication powered by unicorn farts. They'll make up random BS about how an alarm clock works if it suits their "needs". Those shows pump tons of misinformation about different subjects, guns are definitely no exception. I doubt CSI, NCIS, or any of those shows could explain how to install drywall without telling the audience that it's made of ground up elephant bones compressed between sheets of rhinoceros taint and that there is some evil nigerian warlord smuggling baby elephant drywall out of africa.

, I know, I know. If I were the producer though, I would have at least gone with a "badder" gun though... I guess they just wanted it for the looks though.

Topgun: That sounds interesting, I will definitely be watching for that

Its on demand and is not showing the name of the episode. AFAIK it is the most recent episode of CSI, shouldn't be too hard to find

CSI has never been about accurately depicting firearms but even I thought this episode was over the top.

What they should do is depict the enviornmental damage all of their fuel gulping CSI SUVs are doing!

Actually the statement about the ammo, "You can't even buy this ammo in the states" Could be a true and accurate statement if they were referring to the steel core SS190 5.7x28mm ammo. That particular load is reserved for LEO or Military use and not sold to US civilian consumers as it's "armor piercing" when used in the FN57 pistol.

The ammo available to US shooters is the SS192 hollow-point, SS195LF (lead free), SS197SR (sporting round) or the discontinued SS196SR (sporting round)

The statement was broad, something to the effect of "you can not buy ammo for this gun in the states"

I doubt it was AP, even if it was, is there a way to tell it is AP just by looking at the brass?

                            Sad,
Most people get their "facts" from tv shows.
