Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. Jefferson's "Commonplace Book," 1774_1776, quoting from On Crimes and Punishment, by criminologist Cesare Beccaria, 1764

You can each send the items to me.. when they are here I will let you know they look ok and then you can send each other the money.

When it clears I will send you each the trade item.. like an escrow.

Hey, everyone trusts me, would be happy to help.

If either item is a fake I will smash it with a hammer and put it on YouTube ... lol

Hehe, that sounds like you could make a good business out of that service.
The guy said hes gonna get his brother who's here in LA to meet up to make the exchange, told him its face to face or nothing as per your guys advice so now I'm standing by to hear back from him.
Thanks again for the words of wisdom!

The last trade i did involved taking pictures of drivers licenses and a recent bill to prove we lived where our Ids said we did. We also spoke on the phone a few times and made sure that we trusted one another.

We arranged for a date, and then sent pictures of the item being packaged and shipped out. That way if one person backed out, I could retrieve my package from ups. Worked out pretty well.

I have been thinking about a business that does trades or even sales just like an escrow business. I think there is a good market for it, especially in los angeles and northern cali. I think i will incorporate the smashing crappy items with a hammer and posting them on youtube into the business model.

I spent most of my time on bladeforums. People there have traded and bought items running 500-1000+$, sometimes without prior feedback. Usually things go smooth, but on the rare occasion something goes wrong. Even guys with a couple dozen feedbacks, 100% on iTrader have been the bad side of a deal gone sour.

Sometimes, trust is the only thing you have.
