    Doctors with guns

Hey all, I saw some threads where people on here reported being physicians. What are all your specialties and where do you all practice? I am still a med student so haven't matched yet and can't say I have a specialty, but I am curious to see who all is out there in calguns land! Maybe we could get a medical rec-shooting group together. :-)

I heard that youre 7500 times more likely to be killed by your doctor than by a gun. Anyone know how much your chance of death increases if your doctor has a gun?

    sounds scary.

My fiancee is thinking OB/GYN but she's worried about the lifestyle and malpractice liability lol. Plus, I've gotten her to come to the pistol range with me a couple of times... but haven't gotten her to go skeet shooting with me yet. Come on guys, I know there are more of us here.

One of the IPSC instructors at Richmond is a pediatrician. Two guys who are full members at my range are retired internists.

I wonder how many doctors carry on a day-to-day basis and the specific reasons... not the GC statements necessarily, but what made them make the decision to carry daily. Most of our rotations are at hospitals that have at least some percentage of prisoner patients, so there are metal detectors at every entrance and exit, so obviously we can't carry there, but private practice, etc.

Most of my good friends, who recently got into guns, are dentists, oral surgeons, plastic surgeons, and one pathologist. When we're all shooting or hanging out, I don't think of them any differently. Nor do they feel any different around me because of my profession.

In my opinion, it speaks volumes that so many of us in the health professions are "into" firearms. Keep 'em coming guys. Who else is out there?

The General Practice physician I used to work for carried concealed all the time, including daily in his private practice.

My Opthamologist also carries concealed every day in his office.
