Safe location?

I'll be moving to a new place soon. It's a typical above the garage "mother-in-law" apartment, but there's a downstairs room that's only accessible through the backyard...which will contain my dogs. So my options are:

Downstairs: bolted to concrete floor and cinderblock wall, deadbolt and dog protected 24/7, but no immediate access from living quarters.

Upstairs: bolted to floor joists and 2x4 walls, behind deadbolted door, and accessible from living quarters.

My personal opinion is to put the safe downstairs, and keep a pistol and shotgun upstairs. All opinions are welcome!

I personally think either spot is fine and both have their advantages and disadvantages. But as long as it's bolted to something, you'll be better off than if it wasn't.

Perhaps one consideration would be the weight of the safe. You may be able to get a larger, heavier safe and put it downstairs. And we all know how guns and ammo multiply once they get put into a safe.

Keep a small quick access handgun or shotgun safe upstairs.

Will the safe be able to be moved upstairs? On the other hand, what happens when you want to hold your guns, are you okay with trotting all the way downstairs?

I'd go with the upstairs option....make a safe room out of it....be ready for the zombie hordes....

Purchase another safe and have a safe on each floor Do both options! Also can never have too many guard dogs... err well unless you end up on the show "Animal Hoarders" lol

Never have all your eggs in one basket... That said, own two safes.
