I am wondering if anyone else picked up one of these safes on black Friday. My roommate got one, brought it home and there was no owners manual with the code. Had to wait all weekend just for them to tell us they had to call liberty and have them call us to get the code. So now I have a $300 paper weight in my garage!

Damn sorry to hear that. I just put money down on one yesterday and waiting for my order to come in. Still better than a Stack-On one though."1911 mag, twinkie, twinkie, cupcake, primary weapon mag"

The manual is probably locked in the safe... You know... So it doesn't get lost."If a man hasn't found something worth dying for, he isn't fit to live." - Martin Luther King Jr.

If it is a dial code you might be able to find the code on a little sticker on the top or back of the safe.
If it is digital. Usually 123456 # is the code. May or may not have to hit * first. Then you can get to the manual and learn how to change the code.Signature requiredComment

Only stickers I found on the safe were the serial number & "made in china". I tore off the 'made in China'

I thought the same thing when I got my Safe home from Lowes. Called them and gave a piece of my mind about it and was cussing like a sailor because I just got the darn thing out of the truck with friends. Well as I was getting ready to put all the stuff back together to take it back I discovered the envelope attached to the plastic on the outside of the safe towards the bottom. Very very bad place to put that information and it blended in with the material they wrap the safe in for protection.I am wondering if anyone else picked up one of these safes on black Friday. Go look at your packing material I betcha you will find it where you least expect it."I declare to you that woman must not depend upon the protection of man, but must be taught to protect herself, and there I take my stand." --Susan B. Anthony

The Liberty Centurion 12 (not UL or RSC or CA DOJ approved; it's 14 guage steel for one thing) is a great security locker, especially given the sale price - just know what you're buying. I have one for non-firearm storage and really appreciate it.
If you are receiving a new model (not the floor or a "demo), the entire safe should be wrapped in plastic on a half-pallet. Within the plastic, but on the outside of the safe itself (two "votes" for on top), is a tan envelope with the warranty card, instruction/maintenence booklet contain the pre-set code (you cannot change it), and an adjustment hex wrench. Without that envelope you are SOL as you've discovered.
Hopefully anyone in the future searching, finding and reading this thread will know:
1. The "tan envelope" is very important - don't take the safe home without one attached!
2. The Liberty in question is not an approved gun "safe" for CA; but it's way better than nothing!Last edited by Moving Chicane; 11-30-2011, 11:30 AM.Comment
