    Sage EBR & forward grip

    Hello CalGunners...

I just purchased a Sage Navy Seal Gray EBR stock from Clyde's Armory for my SA M1A Scout. I'm planing on sacrificing a 10rd mag by drilling a hole on the side matching the hole on the frame and run a flat head screw through to lock it.

    My question is:

    1) If i lock my 10 rd mag in place, can i put a forward grip?
    2) If not, is a Magpul AFG fall under California's definition of forward grip?

The AFG is not a VFG. I think it fits snugly through a loophole.

    ATF Official Ruling

      1. Yes, but *Why on earth would you do it the way you are talking about?
      2. AFG for featureless rifles is a "probably not" I dont think there was an official ruling by anyone yet.

      * Why not put an AK style maglock on it? It would be so much better in so many ways than actually screwing your mag into your rifle. (much easier to change mags)

that's not CA DOJ. Federal laws really don't have much to do with CA's assault weapons laws. CGF says this

For those too lazy to click link

"Is the Magpul AFG considered a forward pistol grip?
Probably. The general consensus is "do not use one on a featureless build.""

I just placed the order today so i should get it next week. From what i hear the EBR set up is heavy and the fvg helps to keep the weapon leveled when not shooting from a bench.

I have searched the internet for an M1A "bullet button" and all i found was a mag release lever that had been dremeled flat to the receiver. Another option that i saw was buying a second trigger group.
If you guys know a manufacturer that makes mag locks for M1A's share the link with me.

Would an AK mag lock work on a m1a?

I don't think there are any AK style (I'm guessing solar tactical was the inferred maglock) that could currently be made to fit an M1A trigger guard, but something Like a solar tac could be made, probably pretty easily.

I don't see any current ak maglocks fitting into that gap there.

Ahhh... what's done is done. Maybe i should have looked at the JAE stock... anyhow. I guess I'm gonna have to manufacture my own bullet button without filing down or ruining any original parts.

A device that could lock the mag in place without messing with the release lever....
