Packaging tannerite

I was going to buy some in bulk but I was wondering how to package it. I have heard that you can and you acually get a better boom if you wrap it in a ziplock and duct tape it tight rather then those little tubs they usually come in. Any input?

You can also go down to the corner in the bad part of town and buy crack. Some dealers would probably deliver it to your house.

Not saying tannerite is legal or not, just saying that "available to purchase" doesn't equal "legal."

no difference in how you package it- have you shot any? I cant see the boom getting any louder.

And its legal...just some BS about when its "mixed" its then illegal..well you don't mix it until you are about to shoot it. I also speed on the highway sometimes too

its suppose to be completely safe until it's mixed. but when mixed it it suppose to need the impact of a bullet to make it go off, but that part i wouldn't trust. so just don't mix it if you are going to ship it. mix it when and where you are going to be using it.

this stuff is 100% legal in ca and can even be shipped via the usps, but when mixed DO NOT transport. as then it is a explosive and such laws apply.

mix on site were it is to be used and have safe fun.

it can be mixed and thrown into a fire and all it does is melt and slow burn kinda like wood. but when in a sealed container and hit by a supersonic bullet it goes boom. NO fire ball or hot flash,
a .22 will not set it off. only high powered rifle bullets can.

LOL... if you read the 1.5 million threads on it you will see its 100% ILLEGAL both in Binary mixture form and after it is mixed. It can be sold legally in CA the same way Blackpowder is sold, yet the second you intend to use it to make an EXPLOSIVE, its a felony.

I can buy exhaust systems in pep boys and thats illegal to install.
I can buy 10" long folding knives in any tobacco store and they are illegal in the same city.
I can buy beer on every street corner store, yet there is a limited legal way to "use" said beer.

Its an explosive that is off the AG / DoJ RADAR right now.

I don't see how anyone reading 12300 et seq Penal Code could see that it was anything OTHER than illegal.... esp when CA bans dry ice bombs. And oddly enough the separated binary components may be more illegal/less wiggle room (and it appears constructive possession applies).

One good gunnie in SoCal was popped for it several years ago and had to fight like hell to get it down from a felony - and he still had an 18mo prohibition.

I know of no special Tannerite exemption - sure, maybe little popper targets are legal as assembled, but guys buying gallon jugs of "A" and "B" ingredients just don't pass the smell test.

we shoot that stuff every time we head out to Nevada to launch rockets & blow off a few hundred rounds. Personally I don't have anywhere local to use it so I don't bring it home.

As to your question, a bigger bang, wrapping it tightly wont change the amount of boom but you can enhance the boom by placing dirt on the top, back & sides of the container, just don't put anything in front of the container as it will blast debri towards you. Enhancing it like this makes it appear like a bigger blast.

It does flash & throw sparks but it's so fast most don't even see it, check this vid out; I pilled dirt clods around it on the top & back sides, makes a nice looking boom. If you listen close you can hear my young son telling me to "safe" the rifle so he can go check out the blast site (kids had eye & hearing & safe-way back) also in the still pics after you can see the concussion blast in the dirt , kinda cool.

I once emptied the powder out of a damaged cartridge onto a plastic spoon and lit it on fire.

The high power rockets we build & fly need to recover safely under chute, inorder for that to happen we use 4f black powder and pour it into a container, (I use a 1/2" copper plumbing cap screwed to the bulkhead)attach a M-Tek igniter & lightly pack the container and tape off the top, usually two to four charges per rocket, average four rockets per launch three times a year .

The rocketry community knows we are using BP in a manner that "gun" powder was not designed for... so does the ATFE, but they leave us alone. I think it's the same for Tannerite, that being said it's not the ATF I'd be worried about it's the local PD/Sheriff/DA, remember what it was like when OLL's first gained popularity? I think it's the same for Tannerite & over time the LEO's will let us shoot it at ranges without hassle (unless dumb bunnies "blow-it" for us..pun intended), but for now I'll stick to the remote high dessert.
