    DOJ Delay ? Help !!!!!!

I own several firearms and in the past have never had an Issue ..I just purchased a PPT and waited 10 days ... When I went to pick it up I got a notice from the DOJ DELAY release do not release firearm to buyer ...Has anyone had this issue before ?... Are they just dragging there feet on the check ?... Anyone have any experience in this situation

A friend of mine had the same issue, eventually they released it to him. It's usually because something came up in either your background search or the firearms background search. I'm assuming that you are pretty sure you know you have a clean background, but the gun could have been reported lost or stolen at one point in time.

I know this doesn't help but it's never happened to me and I have never heard of delays with the waiting period.

Ditto. That is weird. From what I have heard, the BG checks are usually completed the same day they are started according to a few FFL's I have talked to. Like stated, maybe an issue with the gun.

the BG can be processed on any day during hte 10-day wait. Some FFLs have even reported getting a "delay" on day 11 or 12, after the gun was already picked up.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

DOJ sometimes messes up. thats why they ask you for your SS# optional on the paper, not alot of people put it down but it will save you from what happened

I just found out from the original owner the gun was stolen and recovered at one point . Something maybe he should have disclosed to me at the sale .. Explains the delay though .... Thank you all for the replys to my question

incorrect. CADOJ does not ask for your SSN. There is no spot on the CADOJ DROS form for your SSN. There is a spot on the federal 4473 form for the SSN, but no info on tht form is sent to CADOJ. Even if you list your SSN on that form, CADOJ will not be able use the SSN to clear a false positive.

I just DROS's some guns last week. The current DROS software DOES ask for the SSN, but it is OPTIONAL as well as an option for a UIN (User Identification Number) that can be assigned by DOJ for specific ident wthout SSN.

There is an option on the application for your SSN but it's optional

The Current DROS system DOES not ask for a SSN.
Putting your SSN on the federal form accomplishs absolutely nothing.

for the CADOJ DROS? I've never seen that and have seen FFL's tell people that SSN's are not transmitted to CADOJ.

UIN or UPIN? the 4473 does mention a UPIN right next to the optional SSN box.
