Quick question on traveling with firearm

I'm going up north for the holiday and I am taking my p95.

Is it illegal to leave it loaded in a locked box??

For instance, Can I have it in a locked box loaded under my seat??

I know I can't have it around a school zone but i've also heard stuff like ''Magazine in the glove box, pistol in the trunk''. I have also heard it is OKAY to have a loaded firearm in your vehicle as long as its in a locked box.

I just want to make sure before I head out tomorrow.

I did a little digging and apparently I can have the 2 magazines loaded but not the pistol....

    thanks

No! Do not drive with a loaded firearm. The firearm must be locked (to prevent problems with GFSZ) and unloaded. To be safe, I store the magazine separately (out of plain sight).

Do the mags have to be in a locked container also?

Can the mags rest on the bottom of my center console and my pistol in the locked box under the seat??

Pistol must be in a locked container such as your trunk, or other means of locking container. Ammo and magazines may be kept in the same container as the firearm, but not inserted inside the gun.

Do not use the glove box or utility cabinet of your vehicle. That is illegal. Anything that can conceal the weapon and locks to prevent opening is acceptable. A good example is a briefcase or biometric safe.
