    question on shooting

i broke my collar bone last saturday snowboarding. according to the doctor, it takes about 2-3 weeks for the bone to fuse together again and total recovery from date of incident is 4-6 weeks. now since i cant board for about 2 months, my question for you guys is if i can still go shooting with a bad collarbone. its on my right shoulder and thats the side i shoot with and well i gotta do something and really wanna go put more rounds through my ar15

P.S. i didnt ask the doctor this question back then because i didnt think about it til after and it prob wouldve freaked him out since everyone in CA thinks guns ar "bad" and "evil" lol

Broke mine snowboarding a few years ago. A plate and six screws later to put me back together. I would think that you could shoot pistol weak hand and that should be okay. My break was pretty bad. The bones were separated by more than a few inches. No going back without surgery. To this day I still do things with my weak hand that I only started doing during this period. Keeping my wallet on the off side is one of them.
Here's to a speedy recovery for you.

          WAIT TILL IT HEALS
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

I'm not a doctor, but I've had 8 orthopedic surgeries.

The answer to your question is "it depends"

First of all, the time frame is never exact

"It depends" on how old you are, and how you do your physical therapy.

Your best advice is likely to come from your physical therapist and yourself.

The issue here may be more about concussion, than over use or stretching, so be careful

You can wait till it's healed, or risk screwing it up for life. If you really want to shoot, get a handgun and shoot that instead after a couple of weeks.

12 ga shotguns, K31 rifles, Mosin M44s, TRG-42s in .338 Lapua Mag? Probably not a good idea.

Your .22LR handguns? I'd say it's probably OK.

But seriously - just take it easy. Use the time to clean and inspect your firearms and inventory your ammo.

look at this as a perfect opportunity to work reaction side shooting.
in 6 weeks you should be pretty darn good on the reaction side.
