    Ca Registration Pet Peeves!!

OK Guys, let's hear your registration pet peeves, I'll Start with..

Long Guns--- How can the state Charge you for Registering long guns, when the DROS goes in it does NOT have Model OR Serial Numbers.. How the hell can you register something without any identifying marks? What a Rip..

If something happens to (lost/stolen) my shotgun or rifle and I call the state for ID's to report it, WHAT do they tell me? Sorry?

Long guns are not registered in California unless you voluntarily send in the registration paperwork and pay a $19 fee. The registration paperwork that you send in includes the make, model and serial number. When you DROS a long gun through an FFL they do not charge you anything for registration because the long gun is not being registered.

Starting in 2014 long guns will be registered during the DROS process. The make, model and serial number will be reported during the long gun DROS at that time.

bendover, anyway to dispute the registration amount? I have an 82 mercedes diesel that they want 120 bucks for. Seems like a lot for a car that you pick up for 1500.

Ca does not charge ANYTHING for "registration" at time of Dealer Record of Sale. It charges you for keeping tract of the sale and doing a background check. My biggest pet peeve about firearms registration is that most people don't really know what is, isn't, has to be or can be registered.
