    Subscribe to "Gun Tests"?

Anyone ever check out or have a subscription to the magazine "Gun Tests"?

If so, what do you think about the publication?

I subscribe to Gun Tests. Their articles are well written, and their tests seem to be well designed. They accept no advertising, so they don't have any conflicts of interest.

The only down side is they are very small, so the tests in any given issue may not be of interest to you.

    Overall, I recommend it.

They had a promotion about 10 or more years ago.$1000 for a lifetime subscription and a SIG P220 in .45ACP.I went for it even though I already had a P220.Still enjoying both the magazines and the SIG.

No ads; the only magazine I trust

I recommend it if you plan to expand your collection. With the subscription, you can search their web site for back issues and reviews.

            Best gun rag evuh!
I love the tests and the gutsy no holds barred grading system

More exPensive than other gun mags and no glossy/fancy pics but the mags are worth saving as a reference source

Have >10 years of back issues, my 12 year old went through them this summer, my 9 yr old intermittently snags one out of the shelf of binders.

Very opinionated articles, but well informed opinion - the editors tend to disclose their biases and do a good job of digging in deep. Kind of ruined me for other gun rags.

They love them some 1911's, but they give Glocks a fair shake. They also aggressively test "weird" milsurps, which NONE of the other rags do since there's no advertising budget in a 75 year old Mauser that sells for $190, or a $199 CZ-52. Pretty cool.

I always crack up, always, when they say stuff like "DON'T BUY" or "GRADE F" or "too dangerous to continue testing" - I've never seen that anywhere else, that's for sure!

Gun Tests turned me on to Savage bolt guns with their pre-AccuTrigger accuracy comparisons and post-AccuTrigger accolades, from bargain hunting packages to $1800 SWAT "all-in-one" kits. I would NEVER have trusted any other magazine enough to buy a pair of rifles sight unseen.

The content is all editorial, I think if you take out the ads in a lot of other magazines, there is more genuine info per issue in Gun Tests.

              Regards,

And before that they had an HK USP 45c for around $650ish if my memory serves correct; I still have it in the safe and still receive the magazine.

I don't agree with all their opinions or analysis and grading, but I generally enjoy the articles. I think their testers leave something to be desired at times.

I agree completely with Redcliff I've had a subscription to Gun Tests for years and will continue to renew. My only complaint is that they don't always compare apples to apples when picking guns for a test. I also like Chuck Hawks' Guns & Shooting. There are free and member only sides to G&S with a lot more on the member side.

                    cHaOs ReX,

If memory serves me correctly under the name "Gun Tests" I never had a subscription but when they were under the name "Pistolero" magazine I had one subscription that came generally quartlerly. Since then I don't know what happened to them after the piggy test debogel.

Subscribed for years. its good and straight up though as stated before, some of their tests aren't always apples to apples. However, they are probably the most honest gun reviews out there
Its worth the money, particularly for the archives online.
