Inter family gun transfer question...

Asking for friend...

His mom is living in Florida and doesn't like to keep the guns she has left from her husband who died last year...

Now she is going to drive cross country to visit her son for thanksgiving and told him if he wants to have them she would bring them to CA.

Can she bring them legality into CA ? and what do they need to do ?

I think, she can bring them, but I'm not sure what they need todo? I guess they would have to go to a CA FFL?

She got a 2 rifles which I checked nothing evil...just a shotgun and a Remington 700 and 2 pistols which from what I can tell one is not on the roaster...

Any advise?

If the guns are legal, which you say they are, she can bring them into the state. She can then visit an FFL and do an interstate interfamilial transfer. Check a few different FFL's, so you're sure you aren't paying too much, since their fees vary.

Just making sure, you ask if they are legal? Meaning she "legally owns" them or what? I sure think so...or do you mean legal in e.g. On the roster?

Not interstate (FL to CA) - Feds require the FFL.

If it were CA mom to CA son, it would be $19 for all of the handguns, not each.

Intrafamilial interstate at an FFL is exempt from the Roster.

Where are you located? There is an FFL down here that did one for me. His rates were $75 first gun, $50 second, and $25 each additional. I didn't shop around much but he was the best rate I found out of the 2 or 3 I looked into.

If you are in the San Diego area and find a better rate I'd like to know for next time I need one.
