Best auto pistol trigger type for occasional users?

I saw an interesting article by Mark Moritz in last month's Blue Press regarding his thoughts on the best trigger type for occasional handgun users...those that may carry or have access to a handgun a lot but rarely use them.
I don't know if any of you get or read the Blue Press, a monthly mini-magazine / catalog produced by Dillon.
I agree with Mark Moritz's opinion for these kinds of shooters, I think he nicely summarizes the situation.
I found a link to the article here:

The best gun/trigger for someone who doesn't really use a gun often/ever is a Glock. That is why LE agencies issue them by the boatload.

      Ummm.... No.

Cops have G***** because they do the job and they're cheap. At least they're cheap to LEA.

Wonder what the "expert" has to say...

According to this expert's ideal trigger type (long pull DA), a Glock with a New York Trigger (8.5lb, normal length of pull) would qualify.

Teaching cops to retrieve guns from holsters without putting your finger through the trigger guard used to be an issue. I wonder if newer holster designs intended to prevent ingress of the trigger finger during the draw have had any effect on accident rates?

The easiest gun to train someone to use is a Revolver!

Meh... if somebody's gonna shoot 'emselves in the leg with a 4# trigger they'll shoot 'emselves with an 8.5# trigger. And I will laugh my behind off at the YouTube videos. All I can say is it's a good thing G***** hold a lot of ammo.

I was more or less commenting on fanboi's misguided enthusiasm anyway... I don't usually pay a whole lot of attention to "experts" but in this case it suited my fancy.

Blue Press DOES get some nice eye candy on the cover...

I believe ANY trigger of more than 6# is too heavy to shoot a gun accurately.

People shoot 1911s better for a reason. I would attribute it more to the light, short, straight trigger over the ergonomics of the gun.

It's POSSIBLE to shoot a 12# trigger accurately, but I believe most of those same shooters would do even better with a 4.5# trigger.

Whether it's hinged or straight, any trigger pull under 6# will be fine. An 8.5# trigger will go off just as a 4# one will IF the user pulls on it without thinking.

Just read the article. If training is not an option, and they're THAT bad...

consider carrying guns in Condition 3 Israeli style.

DAO triggers are great for close range combat, but make hitting your target at longer distances MUCH harder.

Yes, you can train on a DAO trigger to hit more accurately at distance, but I thought these people are supposed to be untrainable.

From condition 3, it's not too difficult to draw and rack the slide while presenting the gun in close quarters. Not perfect, but definitely doable.

Doesn't matter too much anyway, as most US bases prefer to keep their people unarmed and helpless.

                Makes no sense to me.
