dros question

I'm at a chain gunstore starting dros on a .410 shotgun for my girls for christmas. I am active duty mil, oklahoma resident, stationed in 29 palms. For my dros they had me put my home address and work address, told me they didn't need to copy my oklahoma DL, and for state of residence put California. Now I have done DROS's before, never had to put my work mailing address, nor put california as my state of residence. I think they are doing the dros wrong, what say you all??

If you are permanently stationed in CA (as your duty assignment), you are a resident of California. You will put your resident address as it is in California. Also, they will use your Military ID WITH YOUR CURRENT ORDERS showing you stationed here, as your OK ID is invalid here (there is an exception for military members stationed in other states which is why you use your military ID with orders, not state ID).

I did put my resident address on the paperwork, that is when they said " you also need to put your work address.
How is my Oklahoma drivers license invalid here? So your saying that anyone that comes to the state without a CA is driving illegally? Maybe Im just misunderstanding you. I am not a Cali resident though as I do not pay taxes to here, but i understand what you mean for sake of residency.
The thing is is what I had to do tonight I have never done before in the DROs's before at any of the others. So were they doing something wrong then by not having me do it this way? They all used my Mil ID and Ok DL as well as my miltary orders.

No, so long as you are on orders and your OK DL is not expired, it's fine for DRIVING but not for buying guns.

Mil ID should be fine for identification, OK DL just not necessary, and orders are proof of residency (which should not be needed for long guns).
