    Reno Gun stores

I am going to reno for the first time and was wondering if its cheaper to buy ammo there, compared to say the Bay Area. Specifically I am looking into a cheap 500 round lot of .308. I would also love to do some window shopping so general gun store recommendations would be good. Any suggestions?

If your going this weekend, there having the three day BIG RENO GUN SHOW. That will be your best deal on ammo. Miwall with have two sections to themselfs selling ammo. Sheels and Cabelas are a must but between the two, the ammo deals will be at Cabelas if there running sales. I personaly will make the one day round trip on Friday to the gun show if the weather holds....

Haha I am reading old threads about pretend not to be from CA at that gun show. I am a long hair, so I don't think I could pass anyways.

Miwall at the Big Reno Show will be your best bet for cheap ammo. You might find a good deal here or there at Scheels or Cabela's but Walmart will for the most part always be cheaper. In fact I was in Scheels tonight and their ammo was pretty expensive. But its worth it to stop in anyway and shop around. You definitely won't find it cheaper than prices online, even with shipping.

If you want to check out some smaller shops, Maccabee Arms on Kietzke Ln. is a really nice shop and they have some cool stuff you won't see in CA. Also Bizarre Guns on Oddie is a cool shop. They have A LOT of guns. They're also the only gun shop/guitar store I've ever seen.

+1 on Bizarre Guns. Only 5 minutes from the gun show... I have a condo right down the street from there and only realized it was there after about a year of going up there! Great little store with a lot of guns you can't see in Kali.

I've been to Guns and Guitars... I was in heaven... the stores are separate, but connected via a hallway... you can spend hours there. They have a huge guitar collection.

Also +1 on Cabelas and Scheels... Both are a pilgrimage each trip up to Reno.

I ended up going to the show that weekend and then another time as well. Stopped at cabelas at the time. Second time around I went to the range in Carson cty by the dump. Should have brought stuff to shoot, I love un supervised ranges because you can shoot anything.
