I have a Howa 1500 30-06 that came with a scope. Its a pretty cheap one though. The rifle is great and for the money its an awsome gun. I was wondering though if its worth putting a high dollar leupold scope on the rifle or should i save it for a high dollar, high end rifle ?

How does it shoot?
If shoots good why not upgrade the scope?
I have Remington 788 (very cheap rifle) in .22-250 that came with very cheap 4x Tasco scope from factory as package promo deal (purchased at Big 5).
The rifle constantly shoots 1MOA and it now has Leupold on it.Last edited by atomboy; 11-08-2011, 5:17 PM.Comment

As long as the rifle can shoot worth a darn, I'd do it. I wouldn't necessarily put a $1500 leupold on it, but spending $5-600 wouldn't be out of the question if that's what you want to do. There are people that easily spend twice as much on glass as they do on the rifle itself sometimes. I'm also not sure why Nytwolf seems to think that it needs to be in an "exotic caliber" to warrant putting a higher end scope on there. Heck, even if the thing were chambered in 4.6x30mm I wouldn't put a high end scope on it(that's the round the HK mp7 uses, only a small number of guns use it and it's pretty uncommon, I'd say that's close to "exotic").Comment

I have a Howa 1500 in .30-06 also. I aended up going with the Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40mm. its a great scope and got it for like 299.00 on sale. Cant go wrong with that. I have a Nikon Monarcch, and my bud has that busnell elite. In my opinion I like the zeiss over both.Comment

Sure why not? Also, consider the Axiom Blackhawk stock, I LOVE mine on my 1500, makes it an absolute pleasure to shoot. I can shot .06 all day long now with ZERO soreness the next day.Comment
